HEMU Master Soloist Program – Solistes 2026Yu-Hsin Chen has been selected for the prestigious Master Soloist orientation (2025–2026) at the HEMU – Haute École de Musique. Each year, HEMU distinguishes a small number of exceptional artists through this elite program, one of the institution’s highest academic recognitions, designed for already accomplished musicians preparing for major national and international stages.
The Master Soloist program offers intensive artistic mentoring, individualized coaching, high-level performance opportunities, and direct exposure to the professional music scene. Through close collaboration with distinguished professors and guest artists, participants refine not only their technical mastery but also their artistic identity and stage presence.
As part of the Solistes 2026 cohort, Yu-Hsin Chen benefits from HEMU’s structured support system, which fosters artistic excellence, professional integration, and international visibility—strengthening her ongoing collaborations and chamber music projects, including her partnership with pianist Stephanie Gurga.

Yu‑Hsin Chen – Violin

​Born in 2000 in Taiwan, Yu-Hsin Chen began her musical education at the age of five with both violin and piano. Her talent quickly set her apart, leading her to win numerous competitions in both disciplines. From an early age, she appeared as a soloist in some of Asia’s most prestigious concert halls. At the age of nine, she decided to devote herself fully to the violin, which became her primary means of expression.
From 2017 to 2020, she studied at the Tokyo College of Music in Japan with Yasuko Ohtani. In 2019, she joined the HEMU – Haute École de Musique, studying with Francesco De Angelis. There, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts followed by a Master of Arts in Musical Performance, concert orientation, in 2024. She is currently pursuing a Master in Solist Orientation at HEMU Valais-Wallis in Sion.
She has taken part in numerous masterclasses with distinguished musicians such as Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Régis Pasquier, Gilles Apap, Roland Daugareil, Gérard Poulet, Christophe Boulier, and Yumiko Shibuya. Since 2022, she has been performing with the Orchestra of La Scala in Milan under renowned conductors including Riccardo Chailly, Daniele Gatti, Felix Korobov, and Marco Armiliato.
Yu-Hsin Chen describes her years at HEMU as “a transformative experience” that allowed her to grow both as a musician and as a person. Reserved in everyday life, she fully reveals herself on stage:
“That is where I can share my deepest feelings without saying a word. Music gives me a voice.”
Among her favorite works is Praeludium and Allegro by Fritz Kreisler, which she considers a reflection of life’s emotional richness:
“A piece that begins in contemplation and unfolds into a vibrant declaration of passion.”
Driven by a deep desire for genuine connection with her audience, Yu-Hsin Chen aims to offer moments of comfort, inspiration, and emotion through her playing. She looks to the future with ambition and openness:
“I want to continue touching hearts all over the world. Studying, performing, discovering other musical cultures… all of this nourishes the artist I aspire to become.”

​Stephanie Gurga
pianist
Stephanie Gurga is a polyvalent musician, performing on piano, harpsichord, organ, and fortepiano, as well as an opera conductor.  
In 2010, she was named to the Haute Ecole de Musique Vaud-Valais-Fribourg, and has specialized in accompanying strings.  She has accompanied the classes of numerous acclaimed teachers, including for Janine Jansen, Tatjana Masurenko, François Salque, Gerard Caussé, and Clemens Hagen. 

As harpsichordist and pianist, Stephanie frequently appears with L’Orchestre de chambre de Lausanne, L’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Prague Symphonic Ensemble, and the Sharoun Ensemble.  As conductor, she has directed productions for the Nouvel Opéra Fribourg, L’Oriental de Vevey, the Grimeborn Opera Festival London, and the Woodhouse Opera.  

Stephanie has mostly recently developed an electronic composition project, “Air(e)”, a mix of baroque and classical songs and arias re-composed and performed with a unique harmonic language and background. This project is supported by the Ensemble Valéik and has been the recipient of diverse grants in Switzerland and in Italy. 

Γιου-Σιν Τσεν – Βιολί
Η Γιου-Σιν Τσεν γεννήθηκε το 2000 στην Ταϊβάν και ξεκίνησε τη μουσική της εκπαίδευση σε ηλικία πέντε ετών με βιολί και πιάνο. Το ταλέντο της ξεχώρισε πολύ νωρίς, οδηγώντας τη σε πολυάριθμες διακρίσεις σε διαγωνισμούς και στα δύο όργανα. Από την παιδική της ηλικία εμφανίζεται ως σολίστ στις σημαντικότερες αίθουσες συναυλιών της Ασίας. Σε ηλικία εννέα ετών αποφάσισε να αφοσιωθεί αποκλειστικά στο βιολί, το οποίο έκτοτε αποτελεί το βασικό της μέσο έκφρασης.
Από το 2017 έως το 2020 σπούδασε στο Tokyo College of Music στην Ιαπωνία με τη Yasuko Ohtani. Το 2019 εντάχθηκε στην HEMU – Haute École de Musique, στην τάξη του Francesco De Angelis. Η Γιου-Σιν Τσεν περιγράφει τα χρόνια της στην HEMU ως «μια μεταμορφωτική εμπειρία», που τη βοήθησε να εξελιχθεί τόσο ως μουσικός όσο και ως άνθρωπος. Αν και στην καθημερινή ζωή είναι εσωστρεφής, στη σκηνή αποκαλύπτεται πλήρως:
«Εκεί μπορώ να μοιραστώ τα πιο βαθιά μου συναισθήματα χωρίς να πω ούτε μία λέξη. Η μουσική μου δίνει φωνή.»
Ανάμεσα στα αγαπημένα της έργα συγκαταλέγεται το Praeludium και Allegro του Fritz Kreisler, το οποίο, όπως λέει, ενσαρκώνει όλο τον συναισθηματικό πλούτο της ζωής:
«Ένα έργο που ξεκινά με στοχασμό και εξελίσσεται σε μια παθιασμένη, ζωντανή δήλωση.»
Η Γιου-Σιν Τσεν είναι μια καλλιτέχνιδα με έντονη ανάγκη για ουσιαστική επικοινωνία με το κοινό. Μέσα από το παίξιμό της επιδιώκει να προσφέρει στιγμές παρηγοριάς, έμπνευσης και συγκίνησης. Αντιμετωπίζει το μέλλον με φιλοδοξία και ανοιχτό πνεύμα:
«Θέλω να συνεχίσω να αγγίζω καρδιές σε όλο τον κόσμο. Να σπουδάζω, να παίζω, να ανακαλύπτω άλλες μουσικές κουλτούρες… Όλα αυτά τροφοδοτούν τον καλλιτέχνη που θέλω να γίνω.»

Η Stephanie Gurga είναι μια πολυδιάστατη μουσικός, με δραστηριότητα στο πιάνο, το τσέμπαλο, το εκκλησιαστικό όργανο και το φορτεπιάνο, ενώ παράλληλα δραστηριοποιείται και ως μαέστρος όπερας.
Από το 2010 συνεργάζεται με τη Haute École de Musique Vaud–Valais–Fribourg, όπου έχει εξειδικευτεί στη συνοδεία εγχόρδων. Έχει συνοδεύσει τις τάξεις διακεκριμένων καθηγητών και σολίστ, όπως οι Janine Jansen, Tatjana Masurenko, François Salque, Gérard Caussé και Clemens Hagen.
Ως τσεμπαλίστα και πιανίστα εμφανίζεται συχνά με την Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, την Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, το Prague Symphonic Ensemble και το Sharoun Ensemble.
