We-Choir / Virtual Choir Open Call for Scores
We-Choir project was born during 2020 lockdown, with the aim to bring near people in a moment of isolation. The choir wants to promote new contemporary music by emerging composers from anywhere. 30 to 50 professional singers from all around the world are ready to record their voices and merge them together. The experience of recent years has in fact provided excellent technological tools to create and amplify the effect of the entire choral team.
The open call is aimed at composers of all ages and nationalities.
You can participate in the competition by submitting your choral works, paying a fee of 20€ for each score submitted: 30€ for 2 scores and 40€ for 3 scores.
Maximum of works that can participate for each composer are 3.
The pieces must have a duration between 3 and 5 minutes. The staff is closely linked to the SATB a cappella choir, with small divisi for limited sections of the piece.
Any kind of instrumental accompaniment or electronics are not allowed.
The pieces must be sent in pdf format.
It is VERY welcome if you can send a midi (or xml) version of the song, but not mandatory.
The technical difficulty of the piece will be related to its virtual playability, therefore compositions that do not require complex work to find the synchronicity of the voices, and that do not provide too extensive experimental techniques for the choristers, will be preferred.
For the text of the composition we propose to choose some parts of the suggested poems ( you can find below in pdf document). This is just a proposal and its not obligatory
A maximum of 3 winning pieces will be selected, which will be entitled to a performance of their pieces in the final awards ceremony at the end of the festival, on 3/7/2022 .
The decision of the jury is final.
Depending on the pandemic and global situation, the pieces will be performed live by the choir, or screened live as a world premiere in the concert hall and, simultaneously, on all the planned streaming platforms (Fb, Ig, Yt).
The selected composers legally grant the Organisers the right to perform, record and broadcast their work on radio and/or television, as well as to broadcast it via the Internet, without any remuneration. They also undertake to provide the material (lots) for the performance of their work in good time.
By participating in the Open Call, the candidate fully and unconditionally accepts the terms and conditions of the Open Call.
The Organisers reserve the right not to conduct or to extend or postpone the Open Call for reasons of force majeure. In the event of non-execution, the Organisers will delete the submitted works from their archives, informing the authors of the works accordingly.
The evaluation committee will announce by 20 June 2022 the names of the composers whose works will be performed by the Virtual Choir
THE SELECTIONS WILL CLOSE ON 3 JUNE, please send the scores as early as possible.
