​Helena Maria Sarabando Neves

Graduated in Musical Theory and Training from the University of Aveiro, in 1999. Master in Musical Sciences, from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in the area of Psychology and Musical Pedagogy, in 2007. Master in Music Teaching, in the area of Singing, from the University of Aveiro, in 2012.
PhD student at the University of Aveiro, she attends the Doctoral Program in Artistic Creation, under the guidance of Professor Dr Fausto Neves, dedicating herself to contemporary creation for voice and its relationship with the context of performance.
She studied singing with Maria Ana Fleming, Oliveira Lopes, António Salgado and participated in several masterclasses. In the field of Vocal Science she participated in seminars led by Johan Sundberg, Anders Friberg, Camilla Romedahl, among others. She attended workshops held by Margareta Thalén, Daniel Zangger Borch, Carolina Pérez Sanz, among others.
In the area of Psychology and Musical Pedagogy she studied with Helena Rodrigues, Mário Vieira de Carvalho, João Nogueira, among others. She attended seminars taught by Edwin Gordon, Perry Cook, Albert Bregman, Lori Custodero, Manuel Pedro Ferreira, João Soeiro de Carvalho, Rui Vieira Nery, among others.
She participated in several recordings, most recently: “Poiesis” (with Síntese Grupo de Música Contemporânea). She is a founding member of Trivium Trio, and Síntese Grupo de Música Contemporânea, formations with which she has performed numerous concerts, having performed in Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic, Italy, Brazil and France.
With the Síntese Grupo de Música Contemporânea, and other formations, she performed more than 50 absolute premieres by composers such as Carlos Marecos, Christopher Bochmann, Ângela da Ponte, Tiago Derriça, Eduardo Patriarca, Cândido Lima, José Carlos Sousa, Nuno Côrte-Real, Hugo Vasco Reis, Sérgio Azevedo, Amílcar Vasques-Dias, Anne Victorino d'Almeida, António Chagas Rosa, Fernando Lapa, Sara Carvalho, Carlos Azevedo, Ângela Lopes, Edward Aires d'Abreu, Rubén Borges, Ana Seara, among many others.
She serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Síntese Contemporary Music Group ensemble that has funding from the Portuguese Republic - Ministry of Culture.
Since 2007, and to this day, she has been a teacher of Singing, Choir, Musical Training and Vocal Technique at the Conservatório de Música da Guarda (Portugal).
